M74 crash victim named: Malcolm Easton from Alexandria died at scene

Police have named the 42-year-old truck driver who died following a crash on M74.

Malcolm Easton, from Alexandria, died at the scene near Lesmahagow on Thursday May 2.

Around 6.25pm, police received a report of a road traffic collision on the northbound carriageway near Lesmahagow involving a lorry and a BMW car.

The lorry then left the carriageway and overturned.

Emergency services attended but Mr Easton, the driver of the lorry, died at the scene.

The 36 year old male driver of the BMW was uninjured.

An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the collision. Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has any information to contact them. In particular, if you have a dash cam, please check your footage as you could have captured information on the vehicles which could assist in the investigation. 

Anyone with information is asked to call Road Policing Officers at Motherwell Police Station via 101, quoting incident number 3206.
