Three women were taken to hospital following a serious road crash on the M74 near Bothwell yesterday evening.
The accident occurred on the M74 southbound around 6:35pm, and involved five vehicles.
Two women aged 20 and 46 were taken to University Hospital, Wishaw as a precaution, while another 45-year-old woman sustained a serious, but not life-threatening, injury and was also taken to hospital.
The road was closed for around three hours for an investigation at the scene and re-opened around 9.40pm.
Police are urging anyone who was on the road around the time of the incident and who may have dashcam footage to contact them as part of their investigation.
Constable Jonathan Lyall, of Motherwell Road Policing Unit, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have seen the vehicles involved beforehand.
"Anyone who was on the road around the time of the incident and may have dashcam footage which could assist with our investigation is asked to contact police.
“Any information can be passed on by calling 101, quoting incident 2697 of 13 December.”
