M74 crash in Glasgow causes traffic chaos and long tailbacks for drivers

A multi-vehicle crash on the M74 has caused large tailbacks this morning.

Two lorries and two vans smashed into each other around 7.50am this morning.

The collision occurred on the northbound carriageway at junction five for Hamilton and Motherwell.

Traffic is said to be mounting back to junction six, say Traffic Scotland.

One lane remains blocked as a result of the crash.

Police say there are no serious injuries.

Drivers were warned of the incident on social media.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.50am on Tuesday, 27 October, officers were called to the M74 near Bothwell, following a report of a crash involving two lorries and two vans.

"One lane is blocked and emergency services remain at the scene. There are no reported serious injuries.”
