M74 crash as several injured in multi-vehicle smash in South Lanarkshire

Several people have been injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the M74 in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency crews raced to the crash involving at least four vehicles near the Bothwell service station at around 6.30pm this evening.

Drivers have been urged to find alternative routes as police have now closed the southbound carriageway at junction 4 of the motorway.

None of the injuries are believed to be serious, according to Police Scotland.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At least four vehicles were involved in an RTC at 6.36pm on Sunday evening.

“The M74 at the southbound Hamilton/East Kilbride exit has closed due to the incident.

“Several people have been injured - none are believed to be serious at this moment in time.”
