M62 crash closes major junction near Leeds and leaves pedestrian in serious condition

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries in a collision at the Tingley roundabout at junction 28 for the M62 near Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed they were called to an incident at the busy roundabout shortly before 1pm today (Monday) after reports of a person being hit by a vehicle.

Emergency services were sent to the scene and arrived within minutes, causing traffic issues and lengthy delays for much of the afternoon.

The A650 Tingley Common was closed to all traffic travelling towards Morley between the roundabout and the junction with Topcliffe Lane, as paramedics dealt with the injured person. They have since been transferred to hospital, but remain in a serious condition.

Bus services were also diverted due to the incident, although the road reopened at around 4.30pm.
