M62 traffic officer sighs in frustration as wheelbarrows force carriageway to shut near Leeds

A carriageway of the M62 was briefly closed after two wheelbarrows fell onto the road near Leeds.

The accident took place on the eastbound side of the motorway near junction 27, at Birstall, last night (Tuesday).

A dashcam video shared on Twitter by West Yorkshire Police traffic officer PC Dave Cant shows PC Cant remove one wheelbarrow straddling lanes 2 and 3 and the other offending object which was lying against the central reservation in lane 3.

The clip shows the officer throwing up his arms in frustration.

It is believed the fugitive wheelbarrows fell from the back of a vehicle.

PC Cant said: "I get all the best jobs..."

One Twitter user did see the bright side, however.

He wrote: "Bonus! You gained a couple of wheel barrows..."

The queuing motorists were allowed to continue their journeys shortly after when the carriageway was reopened.

In April 2018, the M62 was forced to close near Tingley after a lorry overturned shedding hundreds of bottles of Coke and Schweppes lemonade over the carriageway.
