M62 closed - because of a baby cow on the carriageway

The M62 was closed this morning - when a baby cow strayed onto the carriageway.

North West Motorway Police shut the motorway eastbound near Birch Services, from junction 18 for Simister Island, to junction 19 for Heywood at about 11.15am.

A rolling road block was also introduced on the M60 clockwise from junction 18 to junction 19, for Heaton Park.

A tweet from NWMP said: "Traffic held on the M62eb at Birch Services due to a calf in the c/way."

Highways England wrote: "#M60 clockwise #J18 #Simister to #J19 HeatonPark, Traffic officers and @gmptraffic have a rolling road block in place for a cow running along the motorway.
