M62 cameras capture snowfall as Highways England send snow ploughs out

Highways England has told people to take extra care when driving tonight on the M62.

In a post on Twitter the agency which looks after the country's motorway network said: "M62 J22 Denshaw to J24 Huddersfield, we are getting plenty of snow falling.

"Please take extra care when driving."

Since the initial post Highways have added they have snow ploughs and extra gritters out on the busy motorway.

The gallery below shows images from different cameras

Cameras along the stretch of motorway show differing amounts of snow on the road.

The snow comes as the Met Office has issued a weather warning for ice in the area, which runs from 9pm tonight (December 14 until 11am on December 15).

This is what the warning says:

Icy patches, with snow mainly on higher level routes, may cause tricky travel

What to expect

  • Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times
  • Icy surfaces may make accidents and falls more likely.
