M60 traffic news: Long delays following rush-hour crash at Denton Island

There's long queues on the M60 this evening following a rush hour crash near Denton Island.

Two lanes were closed on the clockwise carriageway following a two vehicle smash shortly before 5pm.

Highways England are reporting delays of up to 50 minutes.

Traffic is also backing up on the M67 on the approach to the ring road.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area if possible.

Highways England tweeted: "The M60 clockwise J24 (Dention Island A57 M67) to J25 Bredbury A560)  2 lanes have been closed due to a collision.

"@gmptraffic @NWmwaypolice are currently at the scene.

"Traffic Officers Maintenance Crews & @NWAmbulance are on their way to the area to assist.

"Please allow plenty of extra time for your journey."

The M602 in Salford was also closed in both directions earlier to allow the air ambulance to land following a two vehicle crash.

At least one person was taken to hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

The incident caused severe delays on Regents Road and the Mancunian Way.
