M6 traffic delays after crashes spark massive tailbacks

Motorists are facing up to 24 miles of tailbacks after crashes on the M6.

Travel monitors INRIX say lane three of three is on the M6 northbound at J26 M58 (Orrell Interchange).

And Cheshire Live has calculated there are more than 24 miles of traffic tailbacks on the M6 in Cheshire.

Traffic is built up on the southbound carriageway from junction 17 for Sandbach, all the way to past junction 21 for Warrington.

A lane closure was also put in place between junction 19 for the A556 to Knutsford and junction 18 for the A54 Middlewich Road for Holmes Chapel.

This is due to a broken down car.

A collision has also occurred just before Sandbach and the two incidents are causing severe delays and stop-start traffic.

There are no reports of any injuries as a result of the incidents.
