A pothole on the M6 is causing miles of queues this afternoon.
Highways England has closed one lane of the M6 northbound between junction 22, Newton Le Willows and junction 23 at Haydock.
One of the three lanes of the M6 is closed due to emergency repairs after a pothole opened up on the motorway.

Travel monitoring service Inrix is reporting large queues back to junction 20 of the motorway at Lymm.
It said: "One lane closed and queueing traffic due to emergency pothole repairs on M6 Northbound from J22 A49 Winwick Link Road (Newton Le Willows) to J23 A580 East Lancashire Road (Haydock).
"Travel time is around 20 minutes."
It's unclear how long the lane will be closed for.
