Emergency crews are at the scene of a crash on the M56 near Manchester Airport.
All traffic is being temporarily held on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway as a vehicle is on its side.
Police, fire and ambulance crews are at the scene of the collision, which happened just before 9am, between junction 5 at Manchester Airport and junction 4 Simonsway at Wythenshawe.
Traffic is stationary traffic as police held all vehicles from passing through the area at around 8.55am.
North West Motorway Police tweeted: “Taking a report of an RTC #M56 .
“Junction 5 to J4 Eastbound.
“1 Vehicle side ways on in lane 3.
“Ambulance and Fire also attended.
“#RX53 Highways & Police #ME51 #ME11 en route”
Highways England also gave an update in the situation.
They tweeted: “The #M56 eastbound at #J5 (#ManchesterAirport) traffic has been temporarily STOPPED due to a collision.
“Traffic Officers are on their way to the area. Congestion building on the approach.”
