Drivers are facing delays on the M56 this evening after the motorway was hit by flooding in Greater Manchester.
Motorists are facing queues of more than two miles this evening (December 8) between junction five at Manchester Airport and junction one for the M60.
It comes as one lane has been closed between junctions one and two, causing delays of 20 minutes approaching the area.

In a post on Twitter, a spokesperson for National Highways said: "One lane (of two) is closed on the M56 eastbound in Greater Manchester between junction two and junction one (for the M60) due to flooding.
"There are delays of 20 minutes with two and a half miles of congestion on approach, back to junction five."
A Transport for Greater Manchester spokesperson added: "Allow extra time if travelling this way and use alternate routes if possible."
Flooding is also affecting the westbound carriageway, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system.
Traffic is coping well on the westbound side.
Greater Manchester has been hit by flash floods today, just a day after being battered by Storm Barra.
Drivers were stuck underneath a bridge on Crossley Road, near Cringle Park, earlier today.
Traffic light failure at the A555 airport relief road junction with Styal Road has also caused issues on the roads near Manchester Airport this evening.
