M56 crash causes long delays on motorway and Princess Parkway

A multi-car crash is causing long delays on the M56 during rush hour this morning.

Queues already stretching back several miles onto Princess Parkway.

Highways England said at around 6.45am that a "a multiple vehicle collision" had stopped traffic in between junctions three and four of the motorway.

Police, fire crews and paramedics all attended.

The smash saw the westbound carriageway between the Sharston Interchange and Simonsway closed completely for a time whilst emergency services deal with the incident.

At around 8.45am Highways England that all vehicles had been recovered but that three of the four lanes remained closed whilst engineers carry out repairs to one of the barriers.

The crash has caused long delays during rush hour this morning.

Congestion currently stretches back onto Princess Road near the junction with Wilbraham Road.

They are advising commuters to use a different route, including the A6010 Wilmslow Road or A56 Chester Road if you are travelling south.
