Traffic is building on a section of the M56 this morning after a crash.
One lane is closed on the eastbound carriageway between junction seven for Bowdon and Altrincham and junction six for Hale and Wilmslow.
The crash happened near an area of roadworks.
Police and traffic officers are currently at the scene.
Traffic is queuing for around three miles up to the incident, according to Highways England.
In a tweet posted at around 7.40am, they said: "The #M56 eastbound #J7 (#Bowdon #Altrincham #A556) to #J6 (#Hale #Wilmslow #Macclesfield #A538) 1 lane has been closed due to a collision.
"Traffic Officers & @cheshirepolice @NWmwaypolice @gmptraffic are on their way to the area."
In a further tweet, Highways England added: "There is approximately 3 miles of slow moving traffic between J7 and J6 on the #M56 eastbound adding at least 20 minutes to normal journey times.
"Please allow extra time for your journey and take care whilst travelling."
