M56 'chaos' near Cheshire Oaks as Bank Holiday shoppers head to designer outlet

Police are advising drivers to avoid a section of the M56 due to 'chaos' near to the junction for Cheshire Oaks.

There are long queues and delays near to junction 10, near Ellesmere Port, on the motorway. Traffic officers are asking motorists to find an alternate route on the Bank Holiday travels.

It appears many shoppers have travelled to the designer outlet to make the most of Bank Holiday Monday.

The shopping centre opened an hour earlier than normal today to allow visitors more time in the stores.

There are also many holidaymakers travelling back home from Bank Holiday breaks.

Cheshire Police are advising drivers to find alternative routes.

A tweet from the force said: "Due to the volume of traffic the M56 junction 10 at #Cheshire#Oaks #EllesmerePort is chaotic currently.

"Please find an alternate route."

Two teenage girls were caught spraying their names onto steps in Piccadilly Gardens. Police handed them a mop and bucket.
