M56 chaos as 'carriageway defects' cause four miles of queues and hour-long delays

Traffic is queueing for approximately four miles on the M56 Westbound.

Emergency repairs are taking place between Junction 12 (Runcorn) and Junction 14 (Chester Servies) on Wednesday afternoon (April 13). As a result, two lanes are closed and there is congestion to Junction 11 (Preston Brook), as well as routes through Sutton Weaver and Frodsham as drivers attempt to avoid the queues.

National Highways: North West reported that there are delays of over an hour.

Restrictions will be in place until 05:00 tomorrow."

The road was hit with delays yesterday (April 12) as contractors had to deal with carriageway defects.
