Two women have been rushed to hospital after a three-car crash on the M53.
Emergency services were called to the slip road of Junction 3 on January 2 at about 5.20pm, as hundreds of motorists travelled after the festive period.
At the time of the incident, Highways England tweeted: "Currently dealing with a collision just before #junction 3 #Woodchurch on the northbound #M53. Take care in area."
North West Motorway Police said a Ford Kuga, Toyota Yaris and VW Golf were involved in the smash, but there was no major injuries.
Officers said two women were treated at the scene before they were taken to Arrowe Park Hospital by ambulance.
Later in the evening the two women were released from hospital "with a clean bill of health," the force said.
The scene of the crash was not cleared until some time later, at about 9.30pm.
