M50 crash between Blanchardstown and Lucan involving a truck causes traffic chaos

Gardai rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the M50 this morning which involved a truck.

Dublin Fire Brigade also attended the busy motorway to deal with the incident.

The collision took place at 7:45am on Thursday morning on the M50 southbound past Junction 6 at the Toll Plaza.

There were major delays for commuters as traffic was reduced to one lane.

The collision between J6 Blanchardstown and J7 Lucan is now cleared. But traffic is moving slowly. and goes back to J3 Ballymun.

A Garda spokesperson told Dublin Live: "Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of road traffic collision involving a truck and a car that occurred on the 28 October 2021 at 7.45am.

"No injuries have been reported and the road is now cleared.

"Investigations are ongoing."

The Road Safety Authority have warned drivers to take care on roads this morning after heavy overnight rain.

Motorists are asked to slow down and leave plenty of time for journeys.

Met Eireann has issued a Status Orange rain warning for Wicklow, Waterford, and Wexford.

The warning has been extended to 12pm today.

There will also be showers in Dublin today with temperatures reaching 15 degrees.
