M5 crash: Three people injured as coach, lorry and van collide near Bristol

Three people were treated for minor injuries after a crash on the M5 near Bristol this morning.

South Western Ambulance Service has confirmed that no one was seriously injured in the collision, which happened shortly after 7am today (Wednesday) near Avonmouth Bridge.

A coach, lorry and van were involved, and there were major delays all morning on the southbound carriageway.

Three of four lanes were closed for several hours, causing eight-mile tailbacks between the Gordano services and Almondsbury Interchange.

An ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called at 7.08am about a three-vehicle collision on the M5 southbound near junction 18.

"We treated three patients at the scene for minor injuries."

Highways England had warned of "long delays" this morning, but all lanes have since reopened and traffic is now clear.

A spokesperson said: "Police were called just after 7am by witnesses reporting a collision blocking the M5 southbound between Avonmouth (Junction 18) and Portishead (Junction 19).

"The collision involved a lorry, a van and a coach without any passengers on board."
