M5 crash: Huge queues of traffic after multi-vehicle lorry crash

A four-vehicle crash, involving two lorries, has caused lengthy delays on the M5.

The crash, which involved two cars and two lorries, has caused 45 minute delays on the motorway today (November 9).

Highways England has confirmed one of the lorries jack-knifed and blocked all three lanes of the motorway.

The collision occurred between junction 15, for the Almondsbury interchange, and junction 14, for Thornbury, of the M5.

Avon and Somerset Police were called at 6.30am and the road was reopened at around 8.10am.

It is not known if there were any injuries in the crash.

In a statement, Highways England said: “The M5 in south Gloucestershire near Almondsbury has long delays of 45 minutes between J15 and J14 northbound following a collision between two cars and two lorries.

“One of the lorries is blocking all three lanes of the carriageway and traffic is only able to pass the scene on the hard shoulder.

“Road users may wish to consider alternative routes and allow extra time for their journey.
