M5 crash: Family pay tribute to 'beloved' prison worker who died on way to work

The family of a prison worker who died in a crash on the M5 as she made her way to work have paid a poignant tribute.

Tracy Board, 51, died in a collision which happened near Quedgeley, Gloucester, between junction 12 and junction 11A northbound at around 8.10am on Thursday.

An air ambulance arrived but sadly she died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital and suffered non-serious injuries.

Paying tribute today, Tracy's family said she was a beloved daughter, sister, auntie and great auntie.

They said she has left a huge hole in the life of her loved ones and will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

In a statement released through Gloucestershire Police , her family has said: "Our beloved Tracy, 51, Daughter, Sister, Auntie and Great Auntie tragically passed away on January 2, 2020 during her usual commute to work.

"Tracy, originally from Cwmbran, South Wales who lived in Quedgeley, Gloucester worked in HMP Hewell.

"She was a Psychosocial Lead within the Substance Misuse, Drug and Alcohol team, which she truly adored.

"Her work was her life and if she wasn’t working she was spending time with her family in Wales. 

"Tracy has left a huge hole in the life of her loved ones and will be truly missed by all her family, friends and everyone whose life she touched."

The northbound carriageway was closed between junction 12 and junction 11A on Thursday while investigations took place.

Any witnesses who haven't yet contacted police should call 101 and quote incident 67 of 2 January.
