M5 and M4 delays to continue for 'some time' following crash involving motorcycle

Motorists are being urged to avoid the M4/M5 interchange at Almondsbury following a serious crash involving a motorcycle.

A car was also involved in the collision, which took place near J15 on the M5 at around 6.30am this morning (October 29).

The M4 link roads to the M5 have been closed completely in both directions as a result of the crash, leading to heavy congestion on the motorway.

Emergency services, including police and ambulance crews, are at the scene of the accident - follow the latest updates in our M5/M4 traffic live blog.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "We expect the motorway to be closed for some time and motorists are being advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes."

A second crash on the M5 between J13 and 14 is also contributing to delays this morning.

Highways England has warned that traffic will soon be stopped in both directions to allow an air ambulance to attend the scene.
