M48 Severn Bridge is reopened after being closed to all traffic due to high winds

A major motorway bridge linking England with Wales has been reopened after closing due to weather conditons.

Highways England has just tweeted: "The M48 Severn Bridge is now reopen to all traffic in both directions.

"The off and on closure remains in place due to the continued risk of high winds."

The major route was closed to all vehicles yesterday due to safety concerns.

Drivers were advised to use the M4.

Earlier last month the M48 Severn Bridge was partially closed in both directions due to an overturned lorry.

The accident happened between J2 A466 Wye Valley Link Road (Chepstow) and J1 A403 (Aust) shortly before 11.55am on February 10.

The lorry overturned in lane one, on the eastbound side.
