A metal pole narrowly missed a driver on the M4 when it smashed through the windscreen of their car.
It is unclear where the pole came from but it went through the window on the driver's side.
The pole missed him and ended up at an angle over the steering wheel. The driver has been taken to hospital.
Traffic officers from South Wales Police shared pictures of the inside and outside of the Mercedes saying "very lucky escape for this driver this morning".
They said that it happened on the motorway at junction 34 Miskin on the eastbound carriageway around 6.15am on Wednesday morning.
A police spokesman said that the driver was taken to hospital.
One person commented that the pole was the rear underun bar of the back of a HGV trailer.
Another said: "I think the driver should purchase a lottery ticket, such a lucky escape."
One commented: "That must have been so traumatic for the driver. Glad they escaped OK."
