M4 delays as car and lorry crash near Bristol

A crash between a car and a lorry on the M4 near Bristol is causing long delays this afternoon.

The collision happened on the westbound carriageway at around 2.25pm.

Images from the scene appear to show emergency service vehicle as well as delays.

According to traffic and travel service Inrix, one lane has been closed at junction 19 for the M32.

The latest update at 3.30pm said: "Very slow traffic due to earlier accident on M4 Westbound at J19 M32 (Bristol). Congestion to J18 (Bath). Travel time is around 15 minutes. All lanes have been re-opened. Lane one (of three) was closed."

It is not the only incident on the motorway network.

A lorry fire on the M5 in Somerset was causing delays of around one hour. It happened between junction 25 for Taunton and junction 24 for Bridgwater South. This has now cleared.

While there are longer journey times of up to 80 minutes on the southbound M5 between junction 14 at Thornbury in South Gloucestershire down to junction 20 for Clevedon.
