M4 crash in Wales leaves three people injured

Three people have been taken to hospital after a serious crash on the M4 in south Wales this morning.

Three cars were involved in the 4.40am crash that happened next to the eastbound on-slip at Junction 35 of the motorway at Pencoed.

A silver Ford Ka left the carriageway and ended up in the embankment after being involved in a crash with a Ford Fusion. A Nissan Navara then collided with the Fusion, reports Wales Online.

Police said three people in the Ka were seriously injured and taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

The ambulance service said two people were also taken for treatment at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. Their injuries are not yet known.

South Wales Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, who stopped to provide assistance, or anyone who may have seen the Ka vehicle being driven prior to the collision.

Officers also want to speak with anyone who may have captured the incident on their dash-cam.

A police spokesman said: “The M4 eastbound remains closed while investigations are conducted and vehicles recovered. South Wales Police thanks those affected by the closure for their patience and understanding.”
