M32 reopens after sudden death of man - updated

A man died on the M32 in Bristol this morning, closing a stretch of the motorway for almost three hours.

The sudden death of the man on the northbound carriageway has been confirmed by Avon and Somerset police.

The closure was in place from around 9.30am today until shortly after noon. (August 9).

A statement from Avon and Somerset Constabulary said earlier: "The M32 outbound is currently closed between junctions 3 and 2 following a report of a sudden death of a man on the M32.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing. We'd advise drivers to avoid the route."

Traffic was congested to Cabots Circus.

Drivers were advised to avoid the area and a diversion was in place via the A38 Gloucester Road through Bishopston, which was slow and Muller Road through Horfield.

First West Bus Services were also diverting services.
