A man in his 70s has died and three others were injured after a major crash between cars and a lorry on the M25.
Surrey Police said three vehicles were involved in a crash near Cobham service station, near junction 9 of the M25 towards Leatherhead, at about 5.50am.
Officers said a crash involved a heavy goods vehicle and two cars.
As well as the elderly man, a woman in her 60s was also seriously injured in the crash.
Two others were also rushed to hospital with minor injuries.
Delays of up to one hour were seen after emergency services scrambled to the scene to help.
In a statement, Surrey Police said: "The collision, involving a silver Mazda, a black Volkswagen Golf and a white heavy goods vehicle, happened at around 5.51am.
"The anticlockwise carriageway is currently closed while officers carry out their investigations. Motorists are advised to find alternative routes.
"A man in his 70s, who was in the Mazda died following the collision. His next of kind have been informed.
"A woman in her 60s that was also in the Mazda, suffered serious injuries, while a man and woman in the VW Golf have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
"The driver of the HGV, a man was uninjured."
Highways England warned earlier roads will remain icy throughout the day, as a cold snap hits the South East.
