M25 crash: Nine injured after van collides with minibus near Staines

An air ambulance landed on the carriageway after the incident ( Surrey Police )

A man has been arrested for dangerous driving after nine people were injured following a crash between a van and a minibus on the M25, police have said.

The road was closed and an air ambulance landed on the carriageway after two people were seriously injured in the incident.

The crash, which took place at 1.30am on Monday, led to the road being closed near junction 12 at Staines.

The road was closed in both directions and the anti-clockwise lanes are still shut as authorities investigate.

Drivers have been advised to seek alternative routes and diversions have been put in place.

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: "Officers are working as fast as they can, however the closure is likely to impact on the rush hour, and drivers are advised to seek alternatives if possible.

"Highways England are asking drivers to leave the M25 at J13 and take the A30 towards London, then join the A3308 at the Crooked Billet roundabout (towards Kingston), then the M3 from the Sunbury Cross roundabout.

"Officers are keen to speak with anyone who saw the collision, or the moments leading up to it.

"They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or helmet-cam footage from the area at around the time of the incident.”

Anyone with information or footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to call police on 101.
