M25 crash: Eight vehicle pile-up closes motorway causing huge tailbacks

A crash on the M25 which involved up to eight vehicles closed a large section of the motorway causing huge tailbacks.

Police, paramedics and fire services were called at about 9am to the anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 5 and 6 in Godstone, Kent.

There were severe delays on the motorway into the afternoon as a result of the crash.

One person tweeted a picture of queuing cars and said at least 10 emergency services vehicles had rushed to the scene.

A number of people suffered injuries but none were life threatening, police said.

A spokesman for Surrey Police told Surrey Live: "There were some injuries but none were life threatening.

"The road has been cleared within a couple of hours and traffic is flowing freely now. One lane is still blocked but the rest of the traffic is running around that and the flow is not severely restricted.

"We are just tidying up the remains of the RTC (Road Traffic Collision) but as far as we’re concerned the road is now clear."
