- One heavy goods vehicle caught fire at around 3 am between junctions 27 and 26, with another lorry blaze occurring between junctions 28 and 27.
- Emergency services, including Essex Police and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, are attending, and specialist recovery is ongoing for one of the vehicles.
- National Highways warned of 72-minute delays on the approach to the junctions with five miles of congestion.
- Motorists are advised to allow extra journey time or delay travel, and it is not known when the the road will reopen.
