It happened between Junction one at Fortwilliam and Junction two at Greencastle.
Three lanes were initially closed and traffic is tailed back to Yorkgate.

"There are long delays on the Westlink and M3 approaches to the M2. Motorists are advised of ongoing delays and are advised to seek alternative routes if possible."
Meanwhile, a crash in East Belfast is also causing delays.
It happened at the Belmont Road roundabout.
A PSNI spokesman said: "The Belmont Road is closed between Hawthornden Way and Knock Road junction due to a two vehicle road traffic collision. Please seek alternative routes."
