M2 crash sees three men arrested after 'attempting to flee' from police

Three men have been arrested following a road traffic collision on the M2 on Thursday.

The PSNI said shortly after midnight on September 3 a white Ford Fiesta car was involved in a one vehicle road traffic collision in the area on the Northbound Carriageway.

Officers say the three men then made off from the car before being apprehended a short time later.

A police spokesperson said: "The males were taken to hospital following the incident for their injuries as a result of the one vehicle road traffic collision, but all were later discharged.

“The men, one aged 28 years old and two aged 21 year old were arrested on suspicion of various motoring offences. All three are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dash-cam footage available, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 27 03/09/20.”

In an update on Thursday evening, a PSNI spokesperson said: "Three men arrested following a road traffic collision on the northbound carriageway of the M2 motorway this morning have been released. Two of the men, aged 21 and 28, were released unconditionally whilst a 21 year old man was released on bail pending further enquiries."
