M2 crash causing delays around Belfast

Drivers are being warned to expect delays following a multiple vehicle crash on the M2.

The crash happened at around 4.36pm on the M2 between York Street, leaving Belfast and has caused delays on the M3, A12 Westlink and the surrounding roads.

The vehicles have been moved to the hard shoulder, but drivers are still being told to expect long delays.

A TrafficWatch NI said: "There has been a multiple vehicle collision leaving Belfast on the M2 between York Street tonight.

"All vehicles have been quickly moved to the hard shoulder. However, driver can still expect long knock on delays as a result.

"Please allow extra time for your journey tonight."

Meanwhile, police are appealing for information after a police care was badly damaged following a collision on the Crumlin Road last night.

Police say the crash, which involved a Volkswagen Polo, occurred as officers were responding to an emergency incident in the area.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "Extensive damage was also reported to a number of bollards and junction boxes in the area following the incident.

"There were no reports of any injuries.

"Enquiries are underway to establish what occurred and anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured it on their dash cam, is asked to call police on the non-emergency number on 101, quoting reference number 2021 17/02/21."
