M2 Belfast delays following one-vehicle collision

A number of lanes on the M2 northbound out of Belfast are blocked following a crash on Thursday morning.

A one-vehicle road traffic collision has closed lanes 4 and 5 where the M2 and M3 merge leaving Belfast.

This has caused long delays back on the M3 and A12 Westlink and drivers are advised to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said: "Motorists are advised of long delays at the junctions between York Street and Duncrue, M2 Northbound, due to a one-vehicle road traffic collision.

"Please seek an alternative route for your journey."

Meanwhile, police have released the name of the man who died after a crash in Dungannon on Wednesday.

The PSNI confirmed that 20-year-old Cathair O’Dochartaigh died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at the Cookstown Road area of Dungannon on June 23.

Inspector Johnstone said: "Shortly before 6:10am, it was reported that a black Audi A4 and a Scania lorry were involved in the incident. Cathair, who was the driver of the Audi A4 tragically died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

"Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage available, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 335 23/06/21."
