M1 closed in both directions following serious collision

Police have closed part of the M1 motorway this morning in both directions following a serious road traffic collision.

Motorists are being advised to seek an alternative route for their journey as the road has been closed completely between junction 9 Moira and Junction 10 Lough Road, Lurgan.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Sue to a serious road traffic collision the M1 has been closed in both directions between Junction 9 Moira and Junction 10 Lough Road. The road is expected to be closed for some time and motorists should seek alternative routes.

In a further update on Twitter Trafficwatch NI have advised that the road is likely to remain closed throughout the morning rush hour.

They tweeted: "Due to a road traffic collision the M1 has been closed in both directions between #J9 Moira and #J10 Lough Road. This is likely to be closed throughout the morning peak. Please seek an alternative route."

Elsewhere this morning there are no other traffic restrictions to report at this time. We will keep you updated if that changes.
