M1 closed as police deal with jack knifed lorry

A section of the M1 has been closed after a lorry jack knifed on the road outside Portadown.

The police have been called to the incident between junctions 11 and 12, after the lorry's tanker trailer almost fell onto its side in the middle of the road.

Drivers are being told to expect delays in the area until the vehicle is cleared.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "RPU Officers are currently dealing with a Jack Knifed tanker between Junction 11-12 Westbound, the M1 is currently closed in this area, it’s expected to be closed for the next 30 minutes."

TrafficWatch NI said: "M1 Westbound - there is a jack-knifed lorry on the M1 Westbound around J11 Ballynacorr Interchange (M12 Exit at Portadown) - Motorway is open but delays can be expected until this incident is cleared."

It is not believed that there has been any injuries as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, two drivers have been taken to hospital following a two vehicle collision in South Belfast this morning.

The emergency services were called to the Ormeau Road this morning following a collision between a a Hyundai and a BMW at around 7.15am.
