SEATTLE_The Seattle Mariners used Jean Segura's big bat and the pitching of James Paxton to bounce the Detroit Tigers Saturday night. The Tigers (20-25) lost to the Mariners, 7-2, in Seattle. Segura hit a solo home run in the first inning, an RBI triple in the second inning and added a sac fly to right as part of a four-run sixth for the Mariners. The Mariners took a 3-1 lead in the second inning on a solo home run by Ben Gamel to right and Segura's triple to center. Grayson Greiner's sacrifice fly to center in the fifth inning brought home John Hicks, cutting the Tigers' deficit to 3-2.
Mike Fiers (4-3) gave up three runs on six hits in five-plus innings for the Tigers. He walked one with two strikeouts. Fiers was taken out after giving up a leadoff walk to Kyle Seager in the sixth. Fiers threw 100 pitches, 64 for strikes. Paxton threw a complete game, allowing two runs on three hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.
