M&S shoppers left 'uncomfortable' after watching its 2020 Christmas advert

The Christmas advert offering this year has already divided shoppers.

From John Lewis, to McDonald's, Asda and Tesco - people seem to have something to say about every festive advert going.

And now its the turn of M&S to face shopper criticism, as people are saying its Christmas commercial has left them feeling 'uncomfortable.'

The ad - which features a married model couple due to Covid rules - sees the pair share a cheeky snog in front of their children, who jokingly cover their eyes.

But not everyone was left impressed by the kiss, reports the Mirror.

One woman commented: "Awful advert, she looks like she's being kissed by a man with the most horrendous halitosis.

"Very uncomfortable to watch."

Another wrote: "The woman being kissed looks so awkward and uncomfortable... this ad leaves me totally cold M&S."

A third joked: "The most uncomfortable kiss seen in an advert for some time, no wonder the kids are covering their eyes."

A fourth replied: "She does not look like she’s enjoying that as much as him !!!"

But others pointed out that the couple is married in real life, and that the woman looked like she was giggling.

Viewers also suggested that it might have been on purpose as the kids cover their eyes in mock horror.

One woman joked: "That's clearly a real married couple, he probably hogged all the bed last night so he is in the dog house."

Another agreed, adding: "She's smiling and he's trying not to laugh - my god!! It's a 10 second ad."

A third pointed out: "She's probably pulling back because they're Infront of the kids!

"Maybe it's on purpose?"

Others defended the light-hearted advertisement which saw the family sporting matching pyjamas.

One woman blasted: "People will literally moan about anything on these M and S ads - just scroll past and get on with your miserable lives - spread the misery elsewhere."

Another joked: "If it was an open-mouthed passionate kiss, you'd all be clutching your fake pearls in mock horror, reaching for your Bibles and telling your husband to stop looking at such filth!!"

An M&S spokeswoman said: "We've made some short videos for social media about special & fun festive moments.

"This includes a mistletoe kiss between our married models wearing our family Christmas PJs."
