M&S on when its clothing and homeware sections will fully reopen

This week, both Matalan and Dunelm took the decision to reopen stores, after new government guidelines allowed them to do so - classing them as 'essential' retailers due to their homeware sections.

Following on from the store openings, many shoppers have been asking if M&S will be reopening stores across the UK.

M&S is currently only operating Foodhalls in the UK, after shutting off its clothing and homeware sections at the start of lockdown. Some M&S cafes are also open for takeaway only.

Now Marks and Spencer has given an update on when shoppers can expect to see its clothing and homeware sections reopen.

A spokesperson for M&S told Manchester Evening News: "We are working towards re-opening more space from June. We have supported the Government on its safer workplace guidance and await further information on its re-phasing plans.

"We’ve been successfully operating social distancing in our stores for some time and we will take our learning from this as we reopen our clothing business.

"Our 290 stores that sell both clothing & food are led by a single manager – so it means they already have a brilliant working knowledge of the necessary hygiene measures, how to manage social distancing and the flow of our customers in and out of their store."

You can find the latest opening times and shopping rules for your nearest M&S Foodhall on the M&S website.
