M&S mocked for selling bikini with very embarrassing design flaw

After a sizzling bank holiday weekend, many of us have realised it's time to stock up again on summer swimwear.

But many people on social media will be steering clear of one item at Marks and Spencer, after it was mocked for a very unfortunate design flaw.

The Liverpool Echo reports the sunrise printed lace up plunge bikini set is currently on sale for £36.50, but shoppers believe the bottoms look like a 'period stain'.

The description of the set reads: "Our palm print bikini top is a stunning way to make an entrance when you head poolside this summer.

"In a striking ombre design, this halterneck bikini top has a playful lace-up front detail with metallic trims."

Bex Renshaw first posted a picture of the controversial bottoms saying: "I think the M&S designer was having a bad day, not a look I want to go for this summer."

Her post soon went viral and has amassed nearly 5000 likes and over 500 retweets.

Another customer wrote: "What was the top half like? Did it look like she'd been stabbed in the chest?"

A third said: "This actually makes me want to buy these just to make squeamish people uncomfortable."

And another user believed that the bikini could soon be a bargain, saying: "Hmmm, not a great bikini bottom. There will be loads of those on the sale rails in a few months!"
