M&S makes major change to Scottish stores with first ever Opticians service

High-street retailer Marks and Spencer has announced a major change that will affect two of its stores based in and around Glasgow.

The British shopping giant has confirmed it will be offering a new service to its customers who shop in its Braehead and Argyle Street stores.

Alongside clothing, food, homeware, furniture and health and wellbeing, the retailer has confirmed that the two Scots stores will now begin offering customers an opticians service.

M&S Braehead recently became home to the countries first ever M&S Opticians, while the Argyle Street store is set to open their opticians service from Thursday, October 27. It comes after M&S successfully trialled their opticians service in 12 other UK stores where it received a customer satisfaction rate and recommendation rate of 96%.

To celebrate the new launch, shoppers will be offered free eye-tests, with a wide range of designer brands to choose from including Mulberry, Fendi, Joules, Kate Spade, Oakley, Police, Maui Jim along with leading lens manufacturers - Zeiss and Nikon.

Customers can also choose to opt for expert advice on contact lenses, as well as being able to receive a contact lens home delivery option.

The Braehead and Argyle Street stores will also be home to a hearing aid audiologist who will be offering free hearing health checks along with latest hearing aid technology, including rechargeable models and mobile connectivity.

And you don't just have to physically head into stores for the M&S Opticians service, as customers can book appointment online, as well as view, purchase and try on glasses via an innovative 'virtual try on' tool.

Regional Manager for Scotland West, Scott Munro, said: “We’re always looking for ways to make the shopping experience at M&S even more rewarding and feedback from our trial showed that customers loved the convenience of having an Opticians service within our store.

We’re really excited to be introducing this service to two stores in Glasgow, marking our continued investment into Scotland. The choice of different brands we’re offering is second to none and we have brilliant opening offers to suit all budgets.”
