M&S launches street food lunch menu and it includes a chicken katsu sarnie

A new summer street food range being launched by Marks & Spencer is embracing what's become a national favourite: chicken katsu.

Having previously wooed lovers of the Japanese-style deep-fried chicken treat with the likes of its Katsu Curry Sticky Rice Chips, the high street favourite is now serving up a Chicken Katsu Sando.

Described as "the nation's favourite - the chicken katsu - in a sandwich", the newbie is on sale for £3, joining other street food-style sandwiches; wraps and salads which take inspiration from around the globe.

The collection, which is available in Newcastle and M&S stores nationwide, is aimed at providing a tasty and good value lunch on the go.

Also included in the range are the likes of a Tandoori Chicken Naan Wrap for £3.30; a vegan Caribbean-style Chickpea Curry with pineapple rice in wholemeal flatbread for £3, and a £3 Chicken Vindaloo sandwich which comes with a four-chilli rating and is described as 'wickedly hot'.

There's a £2.80 Hog Roast sandwich with pork, sage and onion stuffing plus Bramley apple sauce while other snacks are inspired by the likes of Vietnamese; Middle Eastern; Indian and Mexican flavours.

Bethany Jacobs, who has an enviable job title of M&S sandwich developer, said: ‘We went to town creating this brand-new collection of sandwiches, wraps and salads inspired by street food markets from around the globe.
