Marks & Spencer has launched an "LGBT" sandwich in a show of “support for Pride”.

The “colourful” sandwich, packed with lettuce, guacamole, bacon and tomato – to fulfil the LGBT acronym – went on sale in the UK and Ireland at the beginning of May, to mark the start of the pride season.

“M&S Food is celebrating Pride season this year and has launched a special LGBTQ+ sandwich – a twist on the traditional BLT,” a spokesperson told The Standard.

"Alongside this, to celebrate Pride 2019 M&S is donating £10,000 to akt the national LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness charity. M&S is also donating €1000 to BeLonG To Youth Services for LGBTI+ young people in Ireland."

“Love this from @marksandspencer Respect! Live & let live...looks delicious too,” tweeted one happy customer.

Others have responded with scepticism.

“LGBT sandwich. These companies are really just taking any swing to seem ‘inclusive’” wrote one Twitter critic.
