M&S launches its version of Aperol Spritz in a can

Marks & Spencer already sells a range of cocktails in a can, but just in time for the warmer months, it has introduced four new flavours: Cherry Spritzer, Peach Spritzer, Aperitivo Spritzer and Vermouth & Tonic.

Fans of classic Italian cocktail Aperol Spritz will delight in M&S’s Aperitivo Spritzer, described as: “the on-trend orange shade that signals the start of the summer. This Aperitivo Spritzer is a classic blend of white wine and fragrant orange bitters.”

Continuing with the on-trend tipples, Vermouth & Tonic is another welcome addition to the range. M&S describes the cocktail as: “a refreshing must-have for sunny festival days! Indian tonic water is the perfect match for crisp vermouth in this lightly sparkling cocktail.”

The Peach Spritzer is a mix of peach juice and Spanish white wine, while the Cherry Spritzer mixes cherry juice and Spanish rosé.

Each 250ml can retails for £2 each and are available from M&S now.

A few months ago, M&S' canned cocktails made headlines across the UK when shadow home secretary Diane Abbott was spotted drinking an M&S mojito on the tube, something which has been illegal since June 2008. The story caused the own brand mojitos to sell out.

Season two of BBC Three's comedy series Fleabag also saw the 'hot priest', played by Andrew Scott, reveal a love of M&S canned gin and tonics, causing a spike in sales of 24 per cent.
