M&S issues urgent message to everyone about its stores

Marks & Spencer has an important message for anyone who needs a place of refuge.

The retail giant said anybody who is made to feel unsafe is able to stay inside one of their stores for as long as they need, reports Manchester Evening News.

Store colleagues will also be on hand to help where necessary.

In a statement posted on social media, M&S wrote: "If you ever feel unsafe, please come in and stay as long as you need to. Our colleagues are here to help you."

The statement read: "Our stores are safe spaces for everyone in the community.

"If you feel unsafe, please come in and stay as long as you need to.

"Our colleagues are there to help anyone who needs it."

The statement has already gone down well with shoppers, and many have thanked M&S for taking this decision.

Supermarket giant Asda has also released a similar statement.

It told shoppers: "EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE.

"Please know that you can always take your time, wait inside to reach out to our colleagues should you be concerned for your safety.

"Customers and colleagues, we will be there for you."
