M&S has launched its first alcohol-free G&T in a can - and it's available now

Summer is here and that means picnics in the park and barbecues in the garden.

And with the sunny weather comes our favourite pre-mixed cocktails in a can - such as passion fruit martini, mojito and of course G&T.

But for those who can't or don't want to drink alcohol, M&S has released its first-ever alcohol-free gin and tonic in a can.

The new drink is made from a mix of fragrant botanicals, including juniper, coriander, lemon balm, cardamom and angelica, which is blended with a refreshing tonic.

It comes in at £1.50 per 250ml can and the botanicals in the drink are from Edinburgh-based distillery, The Old Curiosity.

The posh supermarket claims its alcohol-free G&T tastes "just like the real thing".

Whether you're a non-drinker, designated driver or are just trying to cut back on the sauce, M&S' alcohol-free G&T is worth a try this summer.

Jenny Rea, M&S Drinks Product Developer said: "This alcohol-free G&T tastes just like the real thing. All the flavours are there, from the juniper notes to those fragrant botanicals that add to that classic gin taste.  It is truly delicious.

"I am sure it is going to be a huge hit with customers – at Christmas 2018 we launched a larger bottle of this no alcohol G&T that proved so popular with customers – we kept it on as a permanent fixture in our food halls – customers loved it!’

It seems there is a rise in popularity for alcohol-free drinks, with a 2020 Portman Group study revealing that 23% of alcohol drinkers would consider switching to low alcohol/alcohol-free alternatives this year.

If you're not laying off the booze, then you'll be pleased to hear that Morrisons has launched three new flavoured spice rums for the summer.

The flavours include lime, raspberry and passionfruit. We can't wait to try them.
