Marks and Spencer has given its popular Colin the Caterpillar cake a new look - but not everyone is happy about it.
After the retailer started legal action against Aldi to protect its Colin cake - with a claim that its rival’s Cuthbert the Caterpillar product infringes its trademark - the two brands have been seen biting at one another on social media.
Now Marks and Spencer has released a new product, and it's a version of Colin we haven't seen before.
M&S has turned Colin into biscuits. And some shoppers aren't pleased, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The biscuits were shared on the NewFoodsUK Facebook page, where a post read: "New Colin the Caterpillar Button Biscuits! Chocolate biscuits with a white chocolate filling! Not bad for £1 - you get 5 packs of 2."
The product quickly went viral and shoppers had a lot to say.
"They don't even look like caterpillars!" said one person.
Another wrote: "Looks more like a worm than a caterpillar. Maybe should be changed from colin the caterpillar to walter the worm."
A third person joked: "Wait... that's #Cuthbert sliced into pieces!"
"Couldn't of picked a better time," laughed somebody else.
