The offer can be redeemed in the 350 cafes across the UK before 11am for breakfast, or between 11am and close for lunch.

Ham and cheese toasties, along with blueberry and honey pancakes have been favourites among the young visitors so far.

The shop also says that it has given away 35,000 pieces of free fruit per week across its cafes, with 200,000 pieces estimated to have been distributed by the end of summer.

A spokesperson from the store told us: "To re-cap you can get a free Kids’ Munch Menu breakfast (until 11am) or lunch (11am – close) when you spend £5 or more in a single transaction on food or drink for adults.

“Breakfast is a Main and Drink normally costing £2.95, and lunch is a Main and Snack and Drink normally costing £3.95. All kids’ meals are also eligible for a free piece of fruit in our cafes."

"So far our mini café critics have been devouring the pancakes with blueberries & honey for breakfast (top choice by far!) and getting well and truly stuck into the ham & cheese toastie and cheese & tomato pizza for lunch, as well as our sandwich and roll options.

“We gave away over 35,000 pieces of free fruit in our Cafes last week alone and expect to give away around 200,000 pieces by the end of the summer!"

M&S is not the only store that has been offering deals for children to eat for free over the summer holidays.

Other places include the major supermarkets such as Asda, Morrisons and Tescos.

At Ikea, all kids can enjoy any meal from the children's menu for 95p, or £1.50 for a combination meal.

The combination meal includes one hot meal, jelly, a soft drink, and a piece of fruit. This offer is available until September 3.

Other venues include Yo Sushi, Bella Italia, Dunelm and Dobbies.
